What's a Girl Gotta Do?

So what's a girl gotta do to look like this in a bikini?...and she has young children...that she actually bore herself and carried for 9 months....in her stomach...and she's almost 30.....

Super Bowl Sunday Appetizers

While I don't think I'll be doing very much cooking on Sunday since we are technically moving that day...it is the Super Bowl, and here are three absolutley delish looking appetizers that I think would make a Super Bowl Party success story!

Happy Hump Day (get your mind outta the gutter!)

So I'm not entirely sure how I have not freaked the F out yet this week.  AJ and I are supposed to be moving into our new apartment on Sunday, yet our new landlord people haven't given us our new lease to sign yet. I think they're just slow, because when we talked to them on the phone last week they said they were putting it together, but it's a little hard to hire moving people to move our shit in oh 4 days when we still don't officially know if we have a new apartment....thankfully we have until the 9th to move out of our current apartment...here's to seriously hoping this deal comes through today, or else I may have a minor panic attack....I also have not packed a single thing....and currently do not have any boxes to do so...sooo tonight, I really need to get my shit together!!!

Other than our current moving situation, I have a really fun weekend to look forward to! Two of my best friends from home, Rebecca and Katie, and their boyfriends, are flying out to Denver for a long weekend, and on Saturday we are going to spend the day skiing at Breckenridge with them and stay at a rented condo for the night! Can't wait to see them and show them some of what Colorado has to offer--looks like it should be pretty snowy in the mountains, but also not bitterly cold which is nice.

Katie & Reb, aren't they gorg!

Reb, me, and one of our other best friends, Courtney!

And in a few weeks Nora (far right) will be making a stop in Denver so I'll get to see her here too!

Wish all of my best girlfriends from Atown were making it out this weekend (NK where are you in this pic?)! Guess we'll have to plan something for this summer!

Also, really looking forward to AJ getting a long night of sleep sometime this weekend--he has been up at 5am every day for work this week, and while I know he'll eventually get used to this new schedule, and has so far been a champ about it, I just want him to have a solid 12 hours of sleep!! :-)

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Swimsuit Season Picks

In a few weeks I head off to Playa del Carmen for a spring break getaway--looking forward to a full week away from the office, and some fun and relaxing sunshine time! Here are a few great bathing suits that I'm loving this season.

1. This Peplum tankini from Anthropologie is modest yet sexy, in a classic white color and cut. For $140, it's on the pricey side, but it's very stylish! VIA

2.  Target is one of my favorite bathing suit shops. So inexpensive, and yet the quality is pretty good! You buy them "by piece" so you insure the best fit for your body, and at $14.99 and up a piece, you really can buy more than one bikini at a time!

Mossimo Women's Mix and Match Twist Bandeau Swim Top - Isle Green $17.99....bottom is Mix and Match Tab Side Swim Bottom -Isle Green $17.99

3. Nordstroms carries a great variety of elegant swimwear.  If you're looking for a one-piece this season, this would be a great suit to pick--only a few sizes left in this, so a popular suit this season! VIa

4. This fringed Bikini Lab bikini is so fun and trendy this season. I wonder if this would create questional tan lines though?: Via $60 total!

5.  VIX makes a lot of great swimsuits, and I really love the tribal print on this particular one: Via

6. If I could buy any one bikini this season it would be this ViX "Bia" Logo Binkini. I love the shape and the metal add-ons are fun, this bikini is flattering as well, and offers plenty of support.

What are your favorite swimsuit picks this season?

Weekend Recap

I have very little report on from this weekend, as I was a lazy person and literally watched an entire season of Californication this weekend (show on HBO) and did very little else.  AJ was out of town, I was feeling under the weather still, so I took things slow, veryyyy slow.

Californication is probably the most addicting show I've seen since Grey's Anatomy.  The characters are so "Hollywood" and the main character, Hank, is lovable despite being such a disaster. Marci, Hank's agent's wife, however is my favorite character--she is hilarious, and a bit out of control. Hank and Karen have a very interesting relationship, they are "soulmates" as Hank puts it, and while their on-off relationship is unconventional to say the least, you can tell they will never replace one another.  I also love that I have about 5 seasons to catch up on On Demand--great to not have to wait until "next week" to find out what my favorite characters are getting into! I really recommend this show if you have some time to throw away on tv :-).

Marci--my favorite character

Hank.

While I was busy watching the X-Games and Pro-Bowl on TV last night (best girlfriend everrrrr hah!)...I did love these celeb outfits from the SAG Awards last night:

Totally was not expecting such a voo-voo-vroom look from Amy Poehler, girl looks great!

I love a great red dress--even looks fabulous on a redhead (Jessica Chastain).

I thought that Jennifer Lawrence's hair and makeup were really stunning last night. I think I like her as a brunette more than a blonde, and that red lip is gorgeous!

Is anyone else not shocked that R&B Star Chris Brown, also known as the boyfriend who beatup Rihanna in 2009, is getting press for allegedly jumpking (beating up) Frank Ocean, an openly bi-sexual Singer, over a parking spot? I mean come on, is he going to beat up a kitten next?!

Well this day has been utterly exhausting. I'm incredibly jealous of my friends on the east coast who had either school or work delays/cancellations today because of inclimate weather.  It was 50 degrees and sunny when I went out for lunch, and it currently is 20 degrees and snowing now? Denver is a crazy place!

Friday Favorites

Really happy today is Friday, and while all my friends and family in the midwest and east coast are suffering in single digit weather, it's 55 degrees and sunny here in the Rockies! This weekend Peanut and I will be missing AJ as he is on a little trip, so we (aka my cat and I) plan to watch a few movies, sleep in, and make a few crock pot meals. Thinking of having two of my friends that live in our building over for dinner one night, but we'll see!

Things I'm Loving Now:

This very delicate band of diamonds on a gold band.  Again, not sure when I got so into gold--still prefer silver/white gold, but love this! Would be a great pointer-finger ring (size 6 or 7 would work for my pointer finger present gods)! Via $175!

This trench with leather stretch pants. So cute!VIA

A girly and fun rendition of my favorite food--watermelon!

This gorgeous dream vanity for beautifying yourself

This cutie!

Happy Friday!

Team Brandi

This whole post pretty much started because I couldn't believe that Leann chose to wear her hair in that ugly Pompedeu style (picture below).  Then I decided to bash homewreckers.  Your thoughts? #teamBrandi

I feverently hate home wreckers.  I guess I just don't understand them really.  In the case of Leann Rimes, Eddie Cibrian, and Brandi Glaneville for example, I can't even look at Leanne Rimes or Eddie Cibrian in the same way (not that I even knew who he was before Leanne Rimes) as before the scandal. I used to really like Leann's music, but do I really want to listen to her sing about how heartbroken she was during the time of the affair when she felt like she was dating someone who was "borrowed"? I mean no offense, that makes me want to vomit--listening to a woman sing about how "she made love" to another woman's husband!

I have however been slightly entertained by this VERY public affair, in the aftermath. Watching Eddie's ex-wife Brandi (who is on the REal Housewives of Beverly Hills if you weren't aware) and Leann fight it out over social media (twitter especially) is kind of a guilty pleasure to follow--obviously if they were my actual real life friend I would think something like this was awful, but because they're celebs it's like a trainwreck--you can't look away....or even believe that two adult women would really spread their lives out there that much for the entire world to see?  I think Brandi first of all is a riot...she is hilarious. I also think she sets a good example, blaming her ex-husband above all for the affair, while also blaming Leann. I think it's awful that Leann had to go to rehab for all the stress and anxiety that she's acquired since marrying Cibrian--most of it because she is so hated on social media. But A) get off social media completely if it's ruining your life that much you have to go to rehab and B) what did you expect, no one likes a home wrecker.

Not to be a total bitch, but if you were a guy, who would you rather screw?:

Leann Rimes and her Poupeau hairdo

or

Brandi Glanville and her binkini model figure?

Leann obviously hasn't heard the old adage, "How you met him is how you'll lose him, if you lose him." (aka if you met your husband through cheating, you'll lose him to cheating).

Thursday Favorites

Has anyone else felt this exact way this winter so far? Maybe it's this cold I have been trying to get over for the last week or so, but I'm super feeling this shirt!

Super excited to get lunch with AJ today, always nice when we can break away from work to meet in the middle of the day! I'm also super excited that it's Thursday already, I'm looking forward to doing some arts and crafts projects this weekend, and also trying out a few new recipes in my slow cooker.  And by Monday I plan on having killed this cold.

Peanut (our cat) has been being such a mama's girl recently. While she's always slept on my pillow at night, she recently has been snuggling in between AJ and I on our bed, under the covers, and for like 6 hours on end. Honestly, I love it! She is such a sweet little one, though she has a tendancy to push AJ off the bed, but how could you stay mad at this sweet little face?:

I have been loving looking at new furniture ideas latley for our new apartment that we're moving into in two weeks! It will be a 2 bedroom apartment, so extra space to decorate! I have actually found that Target online sells some pretty cute looking stuff like this tufted oatmeal headboard:

Target

Or these two upholstered chairs in a gold&citrin ikat or a blue diamonds print. Love them both, and they're only a little more than $100 each, such a steal!

Here are some other items from Target's website that I really liked:

Really looking forward to decorating our new apartment in the next few weeks!

Have a great Thursday!

Slow Cooker Meals!

Well it's nearly lunch time here in the Rockies, and my stomach is killing me. Nope not food hunger, but time of the month issues ugh. I swear up until age 23 I never had so much as a cramp, I'm getting oldddddd.

Now onto better things, like my new obsession with cooking in my crockpot! This weekend I threw a bunch of chicken breasts in the crock pot with a little no-salt added butter, a cup of chicken stock, a packet of ranch (the dry kind), and an onion...let that baby cook for 6 hours, and voila it was like magic! The chicken is so tender and kind of like pulled chicken. And I literally just had to sit on my ass for 6 hours, not paying attention to the crockpot, and I had this magnificent meal all ready for dinner. I only wish I had taken the chicken all out at the 6 hour mark, because I kind of just let it sit in there for a few hours to cool down and I think it dried it out a little bit more than I would have liked.  My parents bought me my crockpot for my birthday in 2012, and I'm just now getting the hang of using it. In fact my obsession is so great now with crock pot meals that I downloaded not only the "Crock-Pot" app but the "GetCrocking" app. BTW I never refer to my crockpot as such...I generally refer to it as a Slow Cooker, which makes my boyfriend laugh because I guess it makes me sound like I'm an 80 year old?!

Delish and so easy!

So with my new intention of becoming a crockpot queen--while never making a pot roast or anything resembling that or else there is a good chance my boyfriend will never eat another meal I cook....something about his mom making pot roasts in crockpots all the time when he was growing up, and hating them--last night we went to the grocery and picked up a few ingredients for another slow cooker meal, and i'll let you know how it turns out later this week!

Chicken and Asparagus In Crock-Pot

4 chicken breasts
1/2 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
1 Can Cream of Onion Soup (I picked up low sodium cream of chicken soup instead)
1/4 tsp. dried tarragon
1 tsp. lemon and herb seasoning (ommitting this)
1 bunch asparagus (funny, the grocery store didn't have asparagus, so I grabbed fresh broccoli instead)

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients except asparagus (my case, brocooli) in the crockpot and cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. After 6-8 hours, add asparagus (broccoli) and cook on high for an additional 20-30 minutes or until tender. Thicken sauce with a mixture of 1-2 tbsp of cornstarch and a little cold water if desired.

ENJOY!

Weekend Update

This weekend was much needed! 3 days off from work, AJ's going away party from
his old job, snowmobiling with friends on Saturday in Breckenridge (terrifying at points, but overall a thrilling experience), catching up on old Californication episodes (my latest tv addiction), cooking up easy ranch chicken in the slow cooker and a healthy egg white, spinach, onion, and green pepper casserole, and this morning watching as our 44th president was sworn in a second time in my hometown! We plan on spending this lovely day off relaxing, and possibly going to the golf driving range (GF points!)! Hope everyone had a nice weekend as well!
